Seeing Brain again in Top Cat reminded me of Brains from Thunderbirds. Now THAT was a classic – I had cardboard cut-outs of all the Thunderbirds and I would spend hours flying them around a two-dimensional universe all over the living room carpet. And I had the old diecast models as well – Lady Penelope’s pink Rolls amongst the Birds. So I looked up Brains on YouTube and what a pleasant surprise. I had no idea he could dance …

The indisputable leader of the gang – TC. 

 

I loved this as a kid; hearing those distinct New York voices again took me right back to days of lying in front of the television engrossed in the antics of this gang of streetwise felines. I think my favourite though was always Benny, the little blue guy – although Brain was always a close second.

This may explain a few things. One of my favourite television programmes as a kid.

 

 

This I think will be part of an ongoing occasional series of posts – bringing something old and wonderful to a whole new generation – doing my little bit for the over 50s – reliving a most wonderful childhood – and exploring animation history (from one angle anyway).
